Perry County, part of the Appalachian Mountain Region, is named for Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the hero of the naval battle with the British on Lake Erie in the War of 1812. Perry County is bordered to the east by the Susquehanna River. Its wealth of forests and multitude of streams and rivers provide ample opportunity for world-class hunting and fishing. Perry County also contains fourteen covered bridges, seventeen historical mills and many antique shops, which will please any lover of history.
